Charles Bataillie is a French creative director and entrepreneur specialising in artist-artisan collaborations and decorative arts.

After a decade working with illustrators as an editorial designer, he founded INVENTAIRE, a Paris gallery dedicated to their art. In parallel, frequent travels to Japan drew him into the world of local artisans. There, he recognised unexpected affinities between their approach and that of the artists he had worked with: a shared humility of gesture and commitment to elevating the everyday. This led him to co-found DEJIMA Store, a Parisian destination for Japanese craftsmanship.

Now based in Taipei, he focuses on developing the DEJIMA brand, connecting creativity and tradition to create objects with a unique identity.
